Great Lakes Bioneers Detroit Tour of CLEAR lab spaces at the C.S. Mott Center

Earlier today, the Research Translation team that I lead at CLEAR partnered with the C.S. Mott Center for Human Growth and Development (led by CLEAR’s Project 4 PI Dr. Gil Mor), to host around 35 high school students and community members as part of the 19th annual Great Lakes Bioneers Detroit conference.

Attendees learned from my colleague Michael Petriello how volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) may affect preterm births, toured laboratory spaces and interacted with CLEAR trainees who shared their research and life-stories. Many thanks to Colleen Linn and Brendan O’Leary for planning the tour with me, and to all the trainees who guided the attendees.

Yesterday, our team also partnered with the WSU Department of Communication to host Conan Smith, President and CEO of Michigan Environmental Council, who gave a science communication “master class” to CLEAR and other WSU students. This has been a busy week for us!
