New Webinar Series on how Researchers and Research Labs/Centers should use Social Media

I’ve been pondering (and practicing) the use of social media platforms by researchers and academic units (e.g., departments, colleges, labs, centers) for some time now, and got a recent opportunity to distil my observations and reflections into a workshop and webinar series for the NIEHS-funded Center for Leadership in Environmental Awareness and Research (CLEAR) Superfund Program. I created 3 short videos on (1) why to use social media and 3 guiding principles, (2) comparison of different social media platforms, and (2) some best practices and cautionary tips.

Here’s my Twitter Thread on #WaterSecurity Organizing and Policy

I read this news article in The Atlantic this morning noting how Florida Governor Rob DeSantis, who does not have the best record on environmental action and climate change policy, has unveiled a new set of measures to protect the state’s water sources. The article goes on to argue that water is the “one” issue that even traditionally climate action-averse Republican governors cannot avoid. That prompted me to reflect on what is rhetorically distinctive about water insecurity that prompts widespread action. Here are my musings…
